When it comes to being a parent of a large family with several children, there’s a sense of comfort that comes with knowing that your kids will always have someone to turn to in their time of need or someone to play with whenever they’re bored. However, it can be hard to juggle so many personal responsibilities on top of all of the unique schedules and events all of your children have to go to.
Whether it’s participating in a school production or playing a sport or going to a friend’s birthday party, balancing the different lives and routines of a multi-kid family can be overwhelming, so it makes sense for parents to do whatever they can to help alleviate this burden.
Jeena Wilder is a mother of five. Rather than try to keep her children’s lives separated, she encourages them all to spend time with each other, even if that means at parties that not all of the children were invited to. In Wilder’s opinion, if one child is invited to a birthday party, that means that all five of the kids will be attending.

In late November 2021, Wilder uploaded a video on Instagram explaining her logic and asked her followers if they thought the same. Since then, there has been a bit of a debate as to whether this mindset is something all parents should adopt. While some thought the gesture was incredibly sweet, others wondered if it was necessarily appropriate all the time. Read on to find out more about this beautiful family and their sense of togetherness.
On Nov. 22, 2021, Wilder uploaded a video on Instagram explaining her family’s dynamic and how she views party invites for each of her children. In the video’s caption, she wrote, “If one of your children is invited to a birthday party does that mean all of your kids can go? I’m team the whole family goes!”
The video showcased Wilder, her husband and their five children dancing happily, showing their strong bond and sense of togetherness that they have carried through their lives. The mom of five added text across the screen that read, “POV when you invite one of my children to a birthday party. You invite one child you get all of us… Don’t worry we bring awesome gifts.”
Wilder continued, “I know that not everyone feel the way so I always make sure I spend a little bit more on the birthday gift than the average person would to make up for it. Do you feel like just the child that got invited should go or the whole family?”
On TikTok, Wilder explained that her husband works a lot, leaving her alone with their kids most days. She added a new caption that read, “Are you team just the invited child goes or team the whole family?”
The video has since sparked a debate. One person commented, “Team whole family. I always RSVP if we are going and ask, but if we throw parties everyone is invited.” Another user disagreed, and said, “Just that child. I’m a firm believer in children having their own identity and friends.”
